The City of Eau Claire contacted our leadership team on Friday about traffic complaints during the pick-up time frame at Regis Middle School and Regis High School.
We have families who currently park and wait for their child(ren) in the ‘No Parking Area’ along the school side of Fenwick Avenue. This is causing a back-up of traffic onto Hastings Way and has been designated as a traffic hazard.
The City of Eau Claire has alerted us that it will start ticketing any drivers who are found to be waiting in this ‘No Parking Area’ where standing/parking is not allowed per posted signage.
As a reminder, our Regis Middle School and Regis High School families are also not allowed to use the Regis Child Development Center parking lot as a place to drop off or pick up your student(s). This area is to be used by our child development center families only and it is a safety concern to have extra traffic moving through the area with young children going in and out of the building.
We recognize and understand that our location within a residential neighborhood does not offer many available areas for families to wait at pick-up time. Rather than arriving early and waiting, we highly encourage families to arrive at the campus about 5 to 10 minutes after dismissal to pick up their child(ren). At that time, the “notch out” on Fenwick Avenue where the busses park will be clear and available for drivers. You are also welcome to park on the side streets surrounding the school to wait for your child.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, but we must be good stewards in our neighborhood and we cannot have our families causing traffic concerns/dangers for other drivers. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
